Unfortunately, HDMI was not the standard HD interface when the TV was produced in 2003. Fortunately, the HDMI video standard is compatible with the DVI video standard. The only exception to this is in terms of audio. The HDMI standard supports both video and audio transport. The DVI standard only supports video. As a result, I have to run a separate set of audio rca cables to any device I want to connect (eg DVD player). This product provided exceptional functionality at a fraction of the cost of other comparable cables. I only experienced one negative aspect. Out of the box, the DVI-D end of the cable did not fit the specific form factor of my HLN5065W1X/XAA's DVI-D interface. I had to trim down the rubber edges slightly with a modeling knife. The DVI-D end is heavily protected. As a result, the modifications did not affect the shielding or performance in any way. It has amazing picture quality. I've tried some other blu-ray players and they either died in a couple months or they had decent picture, but none of them was as good as this player! This MAGNAVOX was hooked up at my local department store. The picture was sort of grainy so I asked the lady if I could get it hooked up to another tv. She went and got a guy that did it for me. I didnt see much difference. I left there and went to a electronics store. I saw a panasonic BD-60 there that was awsome. Fantastic picture... I bought it. Plays everything I put in it. Its more money but the picture makes this magnavox look like a vcr. I cant say how this holds up? Bad thing is it may hold up for yrs and you have to look at a terrible picture forever.
