I have an older Samsung HLN5065W1X/XAA 50" DLP TV with a DVI-D interface. Unfortunately, HDMI was not the standard HD interface when the TV was produced in 2003. Fortunately, the HDMI video standard is compatible with the DVI video standard. The only exception to this is in terms of audio. The HDMI standard supports both video and audio transport. The DVI standard only supports video. As a result, I have to run a separate set of audio rca cables to any device I want to connect (eg DVD player). This product provided exceptional functionality at a fraction of the cost of other comparable cables. I only experienced one negative aspect. Out of the box, the DVI-D end of the cable did not fit the specific form factor of my HLN5065W1X/XAA's DVI-D interface. I had to trim down the rubber edges slightly with a modeling knife. The DVI-D end is heavily protected. As a result, the modifications did not affect the shielding or performance in any way. This slight inconvenience was well worth the monetary savings.

I didn't think this was possible, but when i plugged the cable into my MacBook Pro and into my LCD TV and IT FROZE MY LAPTOP. At first I thought it was a fluke, so I tried it again, but it did the same thing. I've requested a replacement and am hoping that the 2nd one will work, otherwise I am going to go for another brand altogether, maybe the belkin or xtrememac or philips one.

I bought this blu-ray player several months ago and I have to say it's the best blu-ray player I've ever owned. It has amazing picture quality. I've tried some other blu-ray players and they either died in a couple months or they had decent picture, but none of them was as good as this player! It's a good looking player too very sleek and stylish. I've very glad I bought this item.

After Returning a bd-p1600 samsung {junk} my search was on again. This MAGNAVOX was hooked up at my local department store. The picture was sort of grainy so I asked the lady if I could get it hooked up to another tv. She went and got a guy that did it for me. I didnt see much difference. I left there and went to a electronics store. I saw a panasonic BD-60 there that was awsome. Fantastic picture... I bought it. Plays everything I put in it. Its more money but the picture makes this magnavox look like a vcr. I cant say how this holds up? Bad thing is it may hold up for yrs and you have to look at a terrible picture forever.

It's a fantastic equipment. Works very well with Onkyo hdmi home theater that a have at home. It's a litle bit expensive but it's not the same as the others rated $250,00. I'm from Brazil and I recomend this model to the Amazon Comunity.

Outstanding player. Picture quality for Blu-ray is as good as it gets and the up-conversion on DVD's is excellent...cannot ask for better. Onkyo must have used some magic here; since it has played every Blu-ray and DVD put in it. Have played well over 100 DVD's, including DVD-R's. As for Blu-ray...around 60 to 70 - All four Rambo's, Die Hard's, three Matrix and both Underworld movies, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Wanted, Indiana Jones Kingdom, Fifth Element, Ghost Rider, Dirty Dozen, Eraser, Rocky Balboa, Stargate...etc. All played perfectly without any firmware update. As for BD Live 2.0 ... simply put; it is another way of control and to send commercials.

I am an Onkyo fan from way back. I ordered the BD696 and the TX806. Deliver was prompt. I have a 60" Sony SXRD rear projection TV and JBL speakers, including a pair of 35 year old L100 Studio Monitors.
<br />The picture and sound on the Blu Ray disk of Australia and on standard DVD's was outstanding. Very pleased. I had a friend who is an expert make all the connections and do all of the settings. It was money well spent. I think a proper set-up is critical in order to get maximum performance.
